Next Blog>>>>

I follow a multitude of blogs...and I'm pretty good about keepin' up with them, but on occassion I will hit the Next Blog button just for giggles. Let me tell you, ...sometimes's it can be rather funny!

I know somehow Google has a way of linking all of these together--keywords, location, age, whatever, but sometimes the "whatever" must be something totally, damn bizarre!

For instance, how can a design blog flip to South American politics...or a cupcake blog flip to a person's poetry blog? Not that I have A LOT of time on my hands, but on those days when I do seem to be attached to the keyboard and my eyes are fixated (in an almost zombie-like trance) on the screen and I just keep clicking on Next Blog>>>>Next Blog>>>>Next Blog>>>>

...I do have to sit back, laugh, and say WTF?...How are these two blogs connected...and that makes for some deep thoughts or at least some funny ones. If you haven't tried it yet--do. Start with my blog and click Next Blog 5 times. Let me know what you get. I'd love to see what Google has connected to my blog that's just about ...well, nothing really...LOL. Maybe it will connect you to blank pages...now, that would be funny!

Happy Birthday to me!

Happy Birthday to me.

I am 37 today.

I have lived to see another wonderful year.

My girls are happy and healthy.

The hubs loves me to no end.

Family and friends care about me.

What more could I wish for myself?

...Nothing.

R.I.P Becca

Nothing much to say when you lose someone.

Sadness engulfs you.

Doubt and remorse claw at your back...

Tears fall because you think:

I wish I had seen them more, talked to them more, or realized time was ticking so swiftly.

Becca, we all love you and will miss you beyond words.

Rest In Peace.

Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler!

It is Mardi Gras and the ONE day I know what it means to miss New Orleans more than any other day of the year!

Contrary to what people think, Mardi Gras is not what you see on Girls Gone Wild and Cops. In the Quarter, It can get rowdy, but for most folks...it's just good, ol' family fun--a day of watching parades, cajun food, and hangin' with friends.

Yes, I miss it with all my heart today. I miss the neutral ground, Yellin', "throw me something, Mister" and not workin' when the rest of the US is dealin' with the grind.

New Orleans, it is unlikely, I will ever return to you permenantly, but you are always in my heart.

Another Snow day...and there's no snow!

Thank you Chris Bailey, T.G. Shuck, and Bill Meck. Where is the snow? There is nothing out there and thanks to your "doppler" readings, I have no school. I know, you say, "It's coming", but I also say, "I'm going to hit the lottery"...doesn't mean that I will. You guys are killing me and my lesson plans. I will be in school until June 30th (the latest day allowed by law to go to school).

However, I am a glass half-full kind of girl and spending the day with Claudia was secretly what I was wishing for...she and I will have a great day off together. We are going to cook, clean, craft, and cuddle...OK, 3 out of 4 ain't bad. (I am not cooking on my day off.)

Just a word to the wise, though...Get this CRAP out of here...I am tired of it. I mean 4-8 inches for us, but the Olympics had to change their schedule for lack of snow...C'mon!

Who Dat? Who Dat?...Saints win Super Bowl!

It is hard to contain the emotions I feel when writing this post. The Saints won the Super Bowl, and unless you hate puppies and Jesus, then you are happy for them and the city of New Orleans.

I like to think of myself as a Saints fan. I definitely consider every resident of the state of Louisiana a fan, but there is no one (and I mean no one) that I know, a bigger fan than my cousin, Jr. Boy(Solomon Jr.). He has been a fan for as long as I can remember...and I'm talking like Kindergarten, people.

When Porter intercepted that throw from Manning, the stars aligned and all was right in the world. I was screaming to the point of losing my breath, all the while trying to call Jr. His wife answered the phone and all i could hear were screams of joy in background--the kind of screams you hear when someone hits the lottery. It was UNBELIEVABLE!

I spoke to him and everyone that called me or that I called and the night was like a moment that stands still. Wow, can you imagine how Brees felt? A quarterback with a major injury that this team took a chance on...what a moment for him!

The next day I got an email from Jr., and he's not one for emailing...LOL, and I'd like to share an excerpt from it. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. These are his exact words:

Please be prepared for incoherent babble…

I wore my Saints t-shirt to work today over my uniform. My co-workers have been giving me crap all morning and I love it. Victory is so much sweeter when proceeded by 31 years of misery. I keep seeing the interception over and over in my mind. The sad part is for 31 years I watched the Super Bowl for the commercials yet I can’t remember any from last night. My stomach was in knots so at commercial breaks I paced and de-stressed. Mom and Dad ordered me the bundle package off of TV last night.

I have been a Mikey Waltrip fan since I started watching NASCAR so when
he finally won his first race at Daytona I cried more than DW did. But last night when Tracy Porter intercepted America’s sweetheart, I almost exploded. Go baby go, go baby go, by the time he got to the 40 I was screaming and crying. I may never see dem Saints in another Super Bowl but for one night I was the happiest NFL fan in the world. I feel like Rudy’s dad at the Notre Dame game.

Who dat? Who dat? Who dat say dey gonna beat
dem Saints?

Cheerleading!

I did not coach cheerleading this year and chose to pursue becoming a state-certified KAPOS judge. It has been a great learning experience, but I do miss having my own team. In the last couple of weeks, my school has asked me to watch their routine and give them feedback. It has been a touching experience.

They have a wonderful coach, who is caring and diligent...and it has made all the difference in this squad.Today, this squad became the 14th Region Small Co-Ed Cheerleading Champs, but overall they were so much more than that...they were hands down, ONE of the best squads in the competition.

I just wanted to take a moment and say, "Congrats Jenkins Ind. School. Go Cavs! Take State!"

Good teaching days!

Modern cynics and skeptics... see no harm in paying those to whom they entrust the minds of their children a smaller wage than is paid to those to whom they entrust the care of their plumbing. ~John F. Kennedy

Today was an awesome teaching day, and mind you, I never had the intention to teach.

A day where I think every kid learned something...or I felt like they did anyway and I felt like I was teaching the future and that mankind had a chance to redeem itself.

OK, so maybe it wasn't life altering, but MATH matters.
Mean, median, and mode matters and I believe they got it. Slope-Intercept matters and I think they got it. Finding the nth term of a sequence matters and I hope they got it....and if they didn't, I'm OK with that too b/c I gave it my all today, just like I did yesterday, and they came back. These days, that's a major compliment.

Pink's Grammys...oh, she owned it!

I am just now getting around to watching "the Grammys" and I am so glad I did! It was a good show, but I enjoyed last years b/c of the tribute to New Orleans. (I still have it on my DVR.) It was hard to imagine that something could surpass it, but it did. There were many great performances, but IT IS "the Grammys". Shouldn't we expect that? However, NO ONE held a candle to Pink.

I am a die-hard Pink fan. I love her, her music, her "ups comes with downs" marriage to Hart! I think she is an all-around good gal with a hint of redneck...what I usually call myself...LOL.

Glitter in the Air was, by far, the best performance of the night, but it was beyond that...It was Pink's best performance, by far! She sang wonderfully while performing a Cirque du Soleil type routine!!!! REALLY! It blew my mind, gave me chills, made me love her as a performer 10x more. I can't even describe it in words, but it will long be remembered.

Here's to you, Mrs. Hart...You go, girl!
...and I bet from now on, thanks to your performance, there will be a new meaning to the 2-word phrase, "Think Pink!".

My Funny Valentine

My friend Mary calls the other day to get our address.
I am nosey, so I ask why.
She proceeds to tell me they, Mary and Joseph, got the hubs and I a Valentine...awwww.

We go away on our little trip and come home to a nice plethora of mail in the box.
(I love snail mail.)
There was the card from our pals in a nice red envelope.

I open it and start laughing.
I pass it to the hubs and he doesn't even notice until I point it out...

Mary had not signed the card.
It was as blank as it was when she bought it.

Now, I know Mary.

She was so worried about getting the address from us that she sealed the card and mailed it without thinking back to whether she filled the card out or not.

We LOVED it!
The hubs and I decided we were going to fill it out from us...and send it back to them...to see if they notice anything...LOL.
We'll let you know!

New Orleans Wedding Weekend

The hubs and I just returned from one of our best trips to NOLA--EVER! From the moment we arrived 'til the day we left, it was sheer joy! I won't ruin it by going on and on about God knows what. I will just show a few pics for your viewing pleasure.
